The purpose of the research is the development of theoretical, methodological, methodical and legal support for the organization of the strateging of socio-economic development of the country. Based on the analysis of the experience of the countries of the world and Ukraine regarding strategic management of socio-economic development, it has been shown that the consistent and systematic use of its methods should become a priority area of state regulation in Ukraine. The features of strateging at the macroeconomic level, which derive from the basic properties of the socio-economic system of the country, are identified, and the main principles of strateging that will contribute to the development of an effective strategy for sustainable development of the country are formulated. The Draft Law of Ukraine "On State Strategic Management" was proposed and the methodical provision of economic policy strateging was formulated in terms of structuring problems and justifying the choice of goals. The results of scientific research are used in the practical activity of state administration bodies. Forecast proposals on perspective directions of research - formation of strategically oriented economic policy on the basis of forecasts and formed strategic goals of the state development.
