The purpose of the study is to develop methodological support and justification of the state tariff policy in the energy sector of Ukraine. Methods of research - axiomatic, theoretical generalization, analysis, synthesis, system analysis, economic-mathematical modeling. Scientific and technical results: conceptual provisions on the formation of tariff policy in the energy sector of the country; organizational and economic mechanism of formation of economically justified price of gas as a commodity; analytical provision of the assessment of the socio-economic consequences of the implementation of the state tariff policy in the energy sector; a set of methodical approaches for the formation of economically justified tariffs in the energy sector. The results of scientific research on this topic are used in the practical work of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, as well as the Executive Committee of the Kharkiv City Council. The work is interrelated with earlier work on the themes: "Mechanism of effective use of energy resources of the industry of regions"; "Modernization of national and regional complexes for the production of motor fuels"; "Problems and perspectives of energy saving and creation of local autonomous fuel and energy complexes". The results of the work are recommended for strategic planning of energy development, state target programming of tariff policy, etc. The implementation of the activities proposed in this work will ensure the formation of a transparent, fair and efficient tariff policy in the energy sector. Further research is offered in the direction of developing theoretical and methodological support for reforming the state regulation system in the energy markets of Ukraine.
