The subject of research is ethnocultural processes in Ukraine from the mid-1980s to the present. The purpose of the research is to describe and characterize the means of Ukrainian studies in determining the ethno-cultural processes in Ukraine in the conditions of its transformation at the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. Methods, approaches. The research is based on complex, interdisciplinary, systematic approaches, the use of methodological tools of Ukrainian studies, the principles of historicity, objectivity, social approach and alternative, which enables us to comprehensively characterize the ethnocultural processes that have taken place in Ukraine for more than three decades, to establish their historical precondition. Novelty of work. In the work was made an attempt to systematize, supplement, synthesize, reevaluate knowledge in the field of ethno-cultural processes from the point of view of socio-historical challenges that have arisen or aggravated in recent times in front of Ukraine. For the first time was made an attempt to simulate changes in the approaches to scientific knowledge of ethno-cultural processes, as well as ethnocultural development of Ukraine from 1985 to today. Theoretical and practical results: results of research work are highlighted in 34 publications in periodical and other scientific publications, as well as in reports at scientific collections. Practical value: the obtained research results are necessary for carrying out the following stages of research, but they can already be used by scientists to consider other related subjects. According to the results of the study, the recommendations are ready for use in order to accelerate the overcoming of the negative consequences of the russification of Ukraine, the sovietization and communization of national consciousness.
