The subject of the research is the archaeological monuments of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve, its cultural layer and individual artifacts. The aim of the work is to summarize materials on the archaeological research of the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and its inherited estate, systematization of information about the prospective excavation sites, analysis of the archaeological heritage of the Preserve. The methods of the research are general scientific, in particular, those that include analysis and synthesis; description and measurement; generalization and systematic approach; and special, such as, historical and comparative; historical and typological; historical and system-related; statistical and cartographic. It is for the first time that the archaeological map of the territory of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve has been composed. To enlarge the information space of the Preserve the scientific description of the archaeological sites of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra upper territory has been carried out. Metal-plastic items that date back to the Old Russian period have been systematized. The stationary archaeological research, accomplished in the territory of the Metropolitan Garden, has helped re-discover the ruins of Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery defensive wall constructed in the 12th century and work out know-how method of its conservation.
