It was found that the prevalence of carbohydrate metabolism disorders in patients with acute stroke (AS) reaches 65.6%. The probability of respiratory disturbances in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) in case of AS is high (63.3%). Risk factors include male sex, obesity, ˃15 according to NIHSS on admission. Electrolyte disturbance was observed in 81.2% of patients with AS against the background of DM. Disturbances in the exchange of magnesium and phosphates (hypomagnesemia and hypophosphatemia) in patients with AS against the background of DM were significantly more frequent than in patients without DM. For correction of hyperglycemia, the best way to administer insulin was intravenous with a syringe dispenser. In other ways, glycemic excursions increased during the day, which correlated with increased lethality. The analysis of the use of neuroprotectors showed that the combination of citicoline with magnesium sulfate was reliably effective for patients with DM.
