They depend on a total mass flow rate and are not contingent on the value of an initial concentration of working gases in the vacuum chamber, whereas the latter determines the plasmodynamic characteristics in the proximity of the electrode system. When the value of the initial gas concentration decreases, toroidal current vortices develop and a displacement of a magnetic field from the axial region occurs. These processes considerably affect the distribution of electromagnetic forces. Consequently, not only a part of a plasma stream flows to the axis of the system, but also the entire stream decelerates; hence, a compression zone forms. It has been established that when the initial concentration of gas decreases, a plasma density rises in the compression zone. This result is well consistent with the theoretical estimations derived from the Bernoulli equation. What has also been revealed is the fact that when the initial concentration is lessened, the compression zone relocates shifting from the electrodes; furthermore, its linear dimensions increase.
