An algorithm for estimating the meridional indices of meridional visual acuity is proposed. It is shown that the average values of visual acuity cannot reflect the actual state of violations in the mechanisms of visual acuity. When determining the frequency of asymmetries of meridional visual acuity in patients with different types of astigmatism, it is necessary to take into account that asymmetries of integral visual acuity, meridional separable visual acuity and meridional vernius visual acuity in orthogonal meridians can have multidirectional indicators. In such cases, with the statistical processing of the general group of patients, the meridional asymmetries of the visual acuity indicators in the horizontal and vertical meridians may not be detected. A mathematical model based on ultrasound topographic density of the lens in patients with age-related cataracts has been developed, which makes it possible to optimize the tactics of using ultrasound phacoemulsification or ultrasound phacoemulsification in combination with a femtosecond laser depending on the degree of density of the lens.
