In such works as the third volume of the 12-volume of “History of Ukrainian Literature”, a collection of scientific works, in a number of articles published by the department’s staff in professional scientific publications, it was possible to deepen the understanding of the nodal moments of the development of Ukrainian literature of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, significantly to expand the actual research base by drawing on a number of little known, and in some cases, and practically unknown, literary facts, to outline the interaction of individual literary phenomena with the phenomena of other arts (theater, fine art, music). An in-depth study of Ukrainian literature as an artistic phenomenon has been carried out, whose distinctive features are largely determined by ethno-national characteristics, which are also manifested in contemporary art, in many areas of national culture. The influence of public and political events of the national liberation movement, facts of cultural and artistic life on literature, their reflection in literature and the contribution and place of literature in the national socio-political and cultural movement are traced.
