The purpose of the study is to study the foundations of the functioning of territorial settlement systems and economic systems for the development of industries, environmental protection and tourism. In accordance with the purpose and objectives of the study, the following research methods were used: philosophical, general scientific, scientific, systematic analysis of thematic scientific literature. Scientific novelty. The influence of factors on the modern development of the economy is established; main tendencies of transformation of economic systems in the transition period: the main directions of perspective development of the region; got the position on the main directions of the transformation of the territorial organization of society in the modern period. Historical and genetic typification of settlements of the territory was carried out; the trends of demographic and ethno-cultural development are revealed; demographic and stability indicators are calculated. The main task of the transformation of a territorial organization is to ensure the high rates of development of priority sectors of the economy and their access to the international arena, raising the standard of living of the population. The main types of this are recreational, foreign economic, forestry, agricultural business and transport. Practical value.
