The purpose of the work is to study the peculiarities of kinetics and the mechanism of interaction of hydrogen with elements of group IV (titanium) and intermetallides of Zr-Cu systems. Methods of research - theoretical thermodynamic calculations, X-ray and phase-X-ray analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), raster electron microscopy in combination with X-ray spectral microanalysis. On the basis of the review of existing methods of hydrogenation of transition metals, a design was developed and a vacuum furnace with a quartz reactor was created for hydrogenation and destructive hydrogenation of titanium powders, Zr-Cu intermetallic systems The study of the influence of technological parameters (temperature, time, pressure) of hydrogenation on the hydrogen content in titanium has been carried out. Samples of titanium hydride with different hydrogen content were obtained and features of their structure and NMR spectra were studied. It is shown that the hydrides of titanium obtained by different technologies have different ratios of the cubic and hexagonal phases, and the analysis of NMR spectra shows that the molecular hydrogen of the octahedral cavities of the crystalline lattice can be filled. The features of destructive hydrogenation (DG) of intermetallic systems of the Zr-Cu system, namely, the phase composition and the morphology of Zr2Cu and Zr7Cu10 DR products, were investigated. It has been shown that ZR-Cu is characterized by a high hydrogenation rate, low equilibrium hydrogen pressure, and the formation of complex poly-intermetallic composites containing several intermetallic phases of the Zr-Cu system.
