The purpose of the work is to form the principles of engineering in designing an industrial bioreactor for cultivating cell cultures, based on mathematical modeling. The object of the study is the processes taking place in the cultivation of the base dependent cell cultures. For the subject of research a fermentor has been selected for the implementation of the cultivation process. The scientific novelty of the obtained results consists in the formation of approaches to the design of a fermentor for the cultivation of cell cultures and the mathematical modeling of the hydrodynamics of the apparatus using the computer package ANSYS. The practical value of the results. The obtained results can be used for designing pilot samples of bioreactors for conducting laboratory investigations. The paper analyzes the types of eukaryotic cells, their cultivation technologies, and the existing designs of bioreactors, which allowed identifying the requirements that lead to cell cultures and the critical cultivations. On the basis of the generated data the design of the fermenter is developed. The mathematical model of adhesion and cell growth is considered, which includes the kinetic rate of capture of cells by a fixed layer and spatial distribution of the concentration of nutrients and metabolic products. Computer-aided modeling with the use of computational hydrodynamics (CFD) was carried out to confirm the feasibility of the design. ANSYS software package created a model environment in the device for which simulation was carried out. The obtained values of the field of air and fluid velocities in the apparatus and the distribution of stress bias indicate favorable conditions for the cultivation of cell cultures.
