The theoretical propositions of the essence of a household are substantiated; the significance of their socio-economic activity; the main general (classical) functions of households are considered, extra selected and synthesized (combined) functions; the role of higher education in the institutional provision of social and economic development of households is defined: the financial aspect; Socio-economic activity of households of Ukraine by regions was analyzed; the development of innovative directions of social and economic activity of households was proposed.  The dynamics of the main indicators characterizing the current state and trends of social and economic activity of households is determined. All mentioned results of the research work "Socio-economic support of households activity" are accepted for use in the activity of FOP Shalyova V.O. for the development of socio-economic activity of households. The main results of the research are realized in the educational process of the KhNEU them. S.
