The patients were divided into 2 groups: Mature and Elderly persons. Exclusion criteria for the study were the presence of a history of Traumatic brain injury (TBI) , stroke, occupational diseases, Parkinson's disease, and other diseases that could affect the study and produce false results. The aim of the study was to determine the status of cognitive function, the presence of CAN in patients with T2DM. Aim of the study: search for new alternative ways of diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy and development of modern type of treatment. Research methods: general clinical - to determine the status of patients: collection of complaints and medical history, physical examination with measurement of anthropometric parameters (height, weight), establishment of body mass index; biochemical methods, evaluation of carbohydrate metabolism with determination of glycated hemoglobin, fasting plasma glucose concentration of fasting capillary blood; psychometric tests: 5 word test, mental status assessment scale (MMSE), battery of tests for frontal dysfunction, evaluation of the clock drawing test, Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test, Trail making test, Digit span forward and backward and other methods. During this stage, the scientific directions in 2018 were the study of cardiac neuropathy, cognitive dysfunction in patients with diabetes, taking into account comorbidity, determination of risk factors and clinical and instrumental indicators in patients. Summarizing the results of this stage of the study and the data from literature, we can conclude that the prevalence of cognitive impairment ranged from 20.0 to 96.7%, depending on the conducted neurophysiological test for the assessment of cognitive functions.
