 Purpose: To work out a project to create an atlas of folk-musical dialects of the central and northern regions of Ukraine based on the example of language atlases. The development is based on the material of the ritual melos of the musical traditions of the regions of the continuous settling of Ukrainians - Polissya, the Dnieper. Practical tasks: Field material has been collected in base loci (Pripyat basin, lower Desna (Chernihiv region), Kyiv oblast, Kropivnichyna) and registered in the database. Map layouts are developed. Methods of research: structural-typological analysis of folk-song melodies (the establishment of song types, or melotypes), territorial-statistical analysis of data, mapping of song types. Results Research work and their novelty: 1) In the scientific circle more than 1000 newly-made sounding tunes have been introduced in the form of audio (video) records and their musical transcriptions. 2) Developed criteria of the electronic database of ceremonial melodies of Ukrainians, accumulated initial information about more than 10,000 samples. 3) Methods of statistical analysis of ceremonial melosms are tested. 4) Trial mapping of regional genre arrays of ritual meloforms of folk origin (rural song tradition) in the northern and central zones of the Ukrainian ethnic territory; Continued manufacturing of color maps (started by the staff of the NMAU in 2012-2013): more than 150 samples. The results of the research work were implemented in a series of published melo-geographic atlases (collections "Slavic melogeography", editions 1-6), introduced into the training courses on folk musical works of the NMAU, KNUCiM, LNMA, KSSMSH, SDPU. The conclusions are used in the scientific work of ethnomusicologists, linguists, ethnographers. The work on the creation of the Atlas is interrelated with analytical methodological developments in the field of folk-rayed rhythms and memoirs of the Slavs. Areas of application of conclusions of work - musicology, ethnography
