As a result of the R&D tasks, a methodology for the formation of thermophysical properties of thermal insulation materials was developed and introduced to production by controlling the processes of heat and mass transfer in porous structures, as well as practical recommendations on the creation of thermal insulation materials (refractory with a minimum coefficient of thermal conductivity and with sufficient strength; expanded clay for additive in concrete mix and for use as backfill; metal and composite structures of thermal protection of power equipment with special conditions). Theoretical complex studies have allowed us to invent a generalized equation for the effective coefficient of thermal conductivity of porous materials from certain parameters (taking into account empirically determined features), which allows us to calculate the thermal resistance of highly porous materials from the main parameters of the porous structure.
