The research used general scientific theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, classification, generalization, retrospective and logical) that allowed to rethink the key processes of the regional peculiarities of the South and its place in the national historical process; general-historical methods (comparative, typological, chronological, genetic) allowed to reveal the historical processes of the South of Ukraine and different systems of the region in the context of geopolitical and inter-civilizational spaces; special-historical (hermeneutic, historical and geographical sections, structural-functional, sociological, and dissopraphic) and mathematical studies provided a new source of sources, processing of significant statistical materials and assessments of the public space through the prism of the specifics of the social, ethnic and corporate groups in the South of Ukraine.
