The subject of the study is the parameters and ways of increasing the sustainability of the financial sector as a whole and of financial institutions towards stresses at the macro level (national level) and meso level (different segments of the financial sector). The aim of the project is to improve the financial sector's sustainability assessment, to develop proposals to mitigate the effects of the financial turmoil, and to increase the viability of financial institutions towards potential stress. The research methods are generalization of foreign experience in ensuring the financial stability of credit institutions at the level of regulatory and supervisory bodies, analysis of scientific publications and regulatory documents, analysis of the regulatory bodies’ activities for the adequacy and effectiveness of anti-crisis measures, identification of relationships in the spread of the financial crisis between different segments of the financial crisis sector and assessing the threat of "contagion" of the national financial sector to problems arising at the transnational level by transfering them into the national financial system; correlation analysis of early warning signals, updated methodology for researching the risk of contamination in the financial sector, deterministic analysis of systemic risk factors and cause and effect analysis of regulatory policy measures (instruments) in Ukraine and in the developed and similar economies. Based on the study of financial crisis models, the phenomenon of public policy failures, methodology for analyzing statistics of financial sustainability indicators, including correlation analysis, the methods of stress testing and measurement of systemic risk have been tested.
