Carbon nanomaterials have been shown to exhibit a catalase ability in a non-aqueous environment. It is established that the catalytic ability of the studied samples correlates not with structural parameters but with changes in surface chemistry. The introduction of oxygen into the structure reduces, and the introduction of nitrogens increases their catalytic activity. The influence of the chemical state of the nitrogen atoms in the structure of CNM on its catalytic activity has been determined. It is shown that the catalytic enzyme activity of carbon nanomaterials correlates with the presence of Quaternary nitrogen in the composition. The synthesized nitrogen-containing carbon nanomaterials (N-CNMs) exceed the activity of native catalase in a non-aqueous environment, making them promising catalysts for the decomposition of organic peroxides.
