The aim of the project is to develop and optimize the chemical composition and technological processes of obtaining thermoelectric materials based on alloyed solid solutions Pb(Sn)Cd(Zn)Te for thermoelectric modules which are operating in the temperature range (500-850) K. Research Methods: The synthesis of solid solutions was carried out by the method of alloying high purity components in vacuum quartz ampoules. Samples for the study of electrophysical properties were obtained by the ceramic metal method by pressing powders of different fractions with subsequent annealing. The phase composition and structural state were monitored by X-ray diffractometry using a STOE STADI P instrument, and surface was examinated using a scanning electron microscope in combination with EDX analysis. The microhardness was determined on the INNOVATEST NEXUS 412A microhardness tester. Quantitative chemical analysis was performed by secondary ion mass spectroscopy using a CAMECA spectrometer. Density measurements were performed by hydrostatic weighing. The coefficient of thermo-EMF was determined by measuring the value of thermoelectric motive force on the sample at a temperature gradient at its ends ≈ 10ºC. The electrical conductivity was determined by measuring the voltage drop across the sample during passing alternating current. The coefficient of thermal conductivity was measured by the method of radial heat flux. The concentration of carriers was determined by the Hall effect study. The processing of the results of the experiments, the modeling of defective subsystems, the calculation of the energies of formation of point defects were performed using EXCEL, Powder Cell, MAPLE, GAMESS.
