The influence of hydrogen on in-service degradation of steels is definitely substantiated by a number of examples. The features of the influence of long-term operation on mechanical properties of the X52 and 17H1S steels were revealed. There were two features: the double-edged effect of the operation of steels on plasticity characteristics and significant decrease in impact toughness. It was established that X52 pipeline steels after operation were characterized by a decrease in corrosion resistance, an increase in electrochemical activity, and increasing susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement.
