Being relatively short in time, this period was full of significant historical events that influenced the national state development. Therefore, its research nowadays, in particular the experience of state-building and participation of peasantry in this process under conditions of foreign intervention, has a considerable scientific, practical and socio-political significance. This is stated in the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 22 January 2016 "On the Events Dedicated to the Celebration of 100th Anniversary of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian Revolution". According to it, 2017 was proclaimed the Year of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian Revolution, and the celebration of this date is a priority in the activities of the authorities, scientific and public institutions. Peasantry that constituted 80% of the Ukrainian society actively participated in the national state-building during the Ukrainian Revolution period (1917 – 1921). The peasantry during the Ukrainian Revolution had their own "political program", proposed their own version of the social, economic and socio-political model acceptable for them. One of the manifestations of peasant revolutionism was the formation of peasant republics. Examples of such peasant state-building are Visunska and Bashtanska, Kholodnoyarska, Chyhyrynska, Gulyaypilska and other peasant republics. They are the unique historical and legal phenomenon, one of the forms of social and political organization of the peasantry. So, the peasantry during the years of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian Revolution declared themselves to be a self-sufficient, original, full-fledged, active subject of social, political and socio-economic life, and of the national state-building.
