The biological importance of tautomerization of pairs of pairs is attributed to the mechanism of formation of enzymatically competent conformations of the DNA base pairs A · C (w) and G · T (w) in the pocket of recognition of high-precision replicative DNA polymerase responsible for the occurrence of spontaneous point inclusion errors. It has been shown for the first time that the modification of uracil (U → Hal5U) lowers the barrier of converting its displaced pairs from G into pairs with the participation of a mutagenic tautomer G having Watson-Crick geometry, thereby causing a mutagenic pressure on DNA. The maximum effect is observed for 5BrU, which is the most effective mutagen among the studied halogen U. Product Description popup.authors Brovarets Olha O.
