The contexts and content of the memory policy pursued by modern state and local governments regarding the events and victims of Stalinist repression in the Western region of Ukraine have been clarified. Suggestions for the state authorities on the implementation of the rational memory policy in modern Ukraine about the tragic events of 1939–1953 in the culturally, ethnically and denominationally diverse Western Ukrainian region are formulated.
