The aim of the studies is the search for the compounds with optimal hydrogen-sorption properties and the derivation of the algorithms of directed modification of these properties. The intermetallic compounds Ho2Ni2-xIn (x = 0-0.3), Ho2Ni2InxX1-x (X = Al, Ga, Sn, Sb) and Rm+nTm+nGan (R = rare-earth metal, T = Co, Ni; m = 1, 2; n = 1) have been synthesized, and hydrogen-sorption properties have been studied for selected representatives. The hydrides Ho2Ni1.7In, Ho2Ni2In0.9Al0.1 (Mo2FeB2 structure type), Tb2Co2Ga, Tb2Ni2Ga (W2CoB2 structure type) and Tb3Co3Ga, the first hydride with the W3CoB3 structure type, have been synthesized. The impact of hydrogenation on the metallic matrix was studied by X-ray structure analysis, and the crystal structure models for the synthesized hydrides were suggested. The favorable impact of Al-doping on the hydrogenation dynamics and an important role of d-metal content in final hydride composition were illustrated on the example of Mo2FeB2-type compounds. For the compounds of the structure series Rm+nTm+nGan the role of the nature of d-metal affecting hydrogenation properties was shown. The studies of the solid solution UNiAl1-xGax showed that the element substitutions in the sites of p-elements influence the type of crystal structure modification upon hydrogenation, what finally predetermines the physical properties variations. The obtained results contribute to the directed search for the compounds with predetermined hydrogenation properties. Product Description popup.authors Lavriv Olena I. Miliyanchuk Khrystyna Yu.
