It is shown that for photon incident energies, photon energies in the 12–18 MeV range capture almost all of the molybdenum-99 recoil nuclei emitted from the nanoparticles in the carrier particles. The total number of 99Mo nuclei reaching the carrier particles is less than 1.5% of the total 99Mo nuclei emerging from the nanoparticle. To achieve high specific activity of 99Mo formed, optimization of the concentration of clinoptilolite nanoparticles in suspension is required.
