The quality indicators of new chipboards with thermochromic coating are investigated. The data obtained showed that the new coating does not affect the esthetic characteristics of the material and ensures the preservation of physical and mechanical quality indicators. The effectiveness of the method and the provision of timely identification of the moment of the beginning of the release of formaldehyde into the air have been experimentally proved. It has been established that the new thermochromic coating applied on the chipboard, due to the rapid change in the color of the surface, will ensure the timely identification of hazards and will help bring furniture from the chipboard to a new environmentally friendly level of operation in rooms where people relax and work, which is especially important for products that are operated in kindergartens, children's room, schools, etc. near heating appliances.
