The purpose of the work is to understand the memory model in the discursive practices of the literary field of Ukrainian writers and its influence on the formation and preservation of the national identity of Ukrainians. Research methods - historical-genetic and comparative-typological methods, methodology of new historicism; principles of systemic, intertextual, intermedial, chronotopic, body-mimetic, narrative analyzes; the achievements of literary schools and methods that focus on the structure of the work are taken into account; the content of the form / material is determined; the achievements of anthropology and memory studies are taken into account. The ways and ways of refraction of sociological and philosophical concepts (such as: history, memory, post-memory, stereotype, trauma, victim complex, identity, etc.) have been elucidated through the prism of literary and artistic consciousness and imagination. Artistic representations of memory in the literature of modern times on the material of works of emigrant writers (O. Lyaturinskaya, B. Boychuk) are analyzed. The artistic specificity of memory metaphor in Ukrainian postmodern literature has been determined (works by T. Antipovych, G. Tarasyuk, L. Yakimchuk, Y. Vinnychuk, O. Shynkarenko, and O. Mykhed). A number of poorly researched works were introduced into the scientific circulation. The study of memory model in Ukrainian modern and postmodern literature intensifies the scientific understanding of memory problems in the early 21st century, will help preserve the national identity of Ukrainians.
