Critical remarks on terms and concepts related to precious stones in the Law of Ukraine "On State Regulation" are presented, and proposals for amendments to the list of such stones are formulated. Proposals are given for changes in the structure of the formation of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of Ukraine aimed at reducing the cost of state funds and increasing revenues to the State budget of Ukraine. The necessity of introducing the norms of international ISO standards and the recommendations of the Kimberley Process on the codification, nomenclature and examination of synthetic diamonds that move across the customs border of Ukraine is shown.
