Based on previous and current research, test the hypothesis of a genetically determined difference in the size of starch granules of winter triticale varieties and its relation to other economically valuable traits and to determine the best on this trait collectible and breeding samples of triticale. Research methods. Field observations and evaluations of breeding material were carried out according to the method of state variety testing. The analysis of grain quality indices was determined on an Infratec 1241. The evaluation of specimens by size of starch grain granules was performed by light microscopy. Statistical processing of the obtained data was performed using Statistica 6.0 software package. Research results and their novelty. Samples with minimum and maximum size of starch granules, valuable by economic characteristics, are distinguished. It is established that the minimum coefficient of variation of size of starch granules is observed in the samples with the smallest maximum size. An improved method of triticale selection is proposed, which includes selection of numbers by size and variability of starch granules of grain.
