The purpose of the work is to study the peculiarities of genetic control of signs of technological qualities of millet grain (fineness, fertility, grain shape) to create genetic sources of high mass of 1000 grains, optimal cream density and spherical shape of the grain in combination with other economically valuable traits. Stage - the study of the manifestation of the tested traits in F3 and the implementation of individual-family selection in order to obtain genetic sources for search characters. Research methods - field experiments were carried out in the crop rotation of the NSC "Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS". Artificial crossbreeding of millet was carried out by the water method according to the method of I.V. Yashovsky, determination of the technological qualities of the grain of millet (weight of 1000 grains and dust content) was carried out according to generally accepted methods, the shape of the grain (spherical shape) was determined by measuring its height, width and thickness using a magnifying glass with a scale using the appropriate formula, the degree and frequency of transgression was determined by the formulas S. Voskresenskaya and V.I. Shpot. The main results of the study - obtained hybrids of the third generation of three populations of 84 plants in total for studying the manifestation of the tested traits in F3 and individual-family selection in order to obtain genetic sources for search characters. In the third generation, the grain mass index was lower compared to the analysis results in F2. The highest degree of transgression (7.33%), as well as the highest incidence of transgression (25.0%), are signs of a mass of 1000 grains in the population of hybrids of millet of the third generation of a combination of crosses (sp2516 / 1709-02) / Zavetnoe set to dol. 834-843 / 18 (792-829 / 19). In populations of the third generation, compared with F2, a noticeable decrease in the number of hybrids with fuel density in the range of 12-14.5% (which is the most desirable) from 38% to 8% is noticeable.
