For the first time the concept of protective behavior of a group in the conditions of collective trauma, and theoretical model of mythological interpretation of the content of joint activity by the participants of interaction were created; conceptual bases of research of effects of group interaction in situations of environmental risk; strategies for using group and individual stereotypes in the process of adapting and overcoming difficult social situations; model of the adaptive potential of the affected military's wives. Questionnaires were developed to determine: group expectations of the interaction participants (teachers, students and parents); features of perceptions of internally displaced persons about the complexity of the social situation in which they find themselves; the method of integrating the experience of complex social situations with the personality through its symbolization in the process of interaction in a small group. Analytical review of news reports of the "Ministry of Education and Science" of the pseudo-state "LNR" (3750 messages for 2016-2019) was found, one third of news reports revealed the use of historical myths and creation of new ones mainly for the militarization of children and youth in the occupied territory of Lugansk region (in particular, using the events of the Second World War) , the formation of pro-Russian identity in them. Acquired further understanding of: historical myth as a means of constructing social identity; the process of resolving intergroup conflicts; identification of psychosocial (group, family) resources of mental health preservation, psychodiagnostic markers of mental well-being of small group members in difficult social situations.
