The purpose of the work is a production technology reprocessing of corundum with additives of chromium oxide and zirconia refractories for the combustion chamber of carbon black production reactors. The research methods are standard methods for research of chemical composition and physical-ceramic properties of refractories, petrographic method. The influence of batch components to the apparent density of freshly formed and dried samples of the corundum refractories with complex addition of chromium oxide and zirconium dioxide, as well as main properties of these samples after firing at 1580 °C, was investigated. The optimal composition of corundum samples with the complex addition of chromium oxide, zirconium dioxide and active alumina, which are characterized by the best among all tested sample compositions the apparent density (3.29 g/cm3), open porosity (17.4 %), and cold crushing strength (138 N/mm2), was established. As a result of the carried out researches, the production technology of corundum with additives of chromium oxide and zirconia refractories was improved, and the range of refractory products produced by the institute is expanded. In JSC "The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches of low-cement corundum with chrome oxide additive castable with properties, which meet the requirements of TU, were manufactured. The made refractory products were delivered to the consumer on the domestic market. The work should be continued in the direction mastering of the advanced production technology of corundum with additives of chromium oxide and zirconia products, as well as the further improvement of the production technology of low-cement corundum with chromium oxide addition castable and fired mullite corundum products, and expansion of their production and use.
