The purpose of the work is development of production technology of the zirconia-corundum ramming mass. The research methods are standard methods for research of chemical composition and physical-ceramic properties of refractories, petrographic methods. The influence of alumina additive amount on the main properties of the ramming mass samples based on the zirconium dioxide, stabilized by CaO, on a phosphate bond, heat treated at temperatures of 200 and 1580 °C was investigated, as well as the phase formation processes in these samples were studied. It was found that, the introduction of alumina additive activates the destabilization of ZrO2 cubic phase, but does not cause a deterioration of the samples structure. This is due to the fact that, as a result of the interaction of alumina with CaO released from a ZrO2 solid solution, elongated prismatic crystals of calcium hexaluminate are formed, which reinforce and strengthen the samples structure. Taking into account the main properties, as well as the cost of raw materials, the optimal composition of the samples with ZrO2 with the alumina addition on the phosphate bond, characterized by high indices of properties: open porosity 15.9 %, cold crushing strength 62 N/mm2, thermal shock resistance (1300 °С - water) - not less than 5 thermal cycles. As a result of the carried out researches, the manufacturing technology of a new type of production - a mixture of powders for zirconia-corundum ramming mass with enhanced properties was developed. This mass is recommended for use in lining at the boundary of combustion and mixing zones of carbon black production reactors. In accordance with the terms of agreements concluded with consumers and the current normative documentation (ND), in JSC "URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches: ramming mass and powders for plasmic coating of zirconium dioxide, stabilized by CaO, with the properties corresponding to the requirements of ND. Manufactured refractory production was delivered to the domestic and foreign markets (export to the Russian Federation, Republic of Belarus).
