The purpose of work is technology improvement of the corundum lightweight products. The research methods are chemical, petrographical, physic mechanical, x-ray phase, thermo-physical ones. The researches on the production of corundum lightweight products by semi-dry pressing using alumina brands N and N RA compared to alumina brand S were carried out. It was established that for the production of corundum lightweight products with an apparent density of 1,3 and 1,1 g/cm3, as alternative alumina containing raw materials, it is possible to use alumina brands N and N RA along with alumina brand S. The properties of corundum lightweight products made using alumina brands S, N and N RA satisfy the requirements of TU for corundum lightweight products with an apparent density of 1,3 and 1,1 g/cm3. The phase composition of corundum lightweight products represented mainly by corundum and calcium hexaaluminate. As a result of the researches, the technology of corundum lightweight products with an apparent density of 1,3 and 1,1 g/cm3 by the method of semi-dry pressing were improved. In JSC "The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches of corundum lightweight products with an apparent density of 1.3 g/cm3 in the form of blanks for implants for use in orthopedics and traumatology were produced. The work should be continued in direction of future improving of lightweight products and thermal insulating concrete technologies and the expansion of their applications.
