It ensured the possibility of creating a mathematical model of a real dynamic system, namely the vibro-impact pad, which is widely used in the construction industry for compacting and forming concrete. The development of a methodology for researching the dynamic behavior of the created mathematical model is allowed as a sequence. Theoretical bases of the analysis of possible scenarios of transition from regular motion to chaos and forecasting of the approach to the critical state in the dynamic system are developed. A review of the literature on the problem of viability and the related problem of progressive collapse of building structures was fulfilled. The most probable causes of the destruction of the structures due to the failure of their insignificant part are revealed. National and international norms are considered to ensure viability and prevent progressive collapse. The efficiency of the application of the theory and methods of nonlinear dynamics and wavelet analysis for the construction of dynamic diagnostic models of structures with defects was estimated.
