The purpose of the second stage of basic research work is to develop a new model of corrosion cracking to substantiate the operability of the elements of nuclear and thermal power plants from chromium-nickel stainless steels; development of technologies for the production of high-strength fuel-cell sheaths and hinges of nuclear reactor cores based on new structural materials and research of their performance indicators. Methods of scientific research: methods of probability theory; methods of mathematical and physical modeling; methods of simulation modeling; optimization theories and methods. The scientific novelty is that a unified approach was developed to substantiate the operability of elements of nuclear and thermal power plant equipment, taking into account corrosion cracking of structural materials; based on the ideas of mechanics of scattered fracture, we proposed a phenomenological continuous model of corrosion cracking, which allows quantitative description of the processes occurring in structural materials; on the basis of new structural materials the technology of production of high-strength fuel-cell shells and hinges of the nuclear reactor cores of nuclear power plant reactors was developed and their efficiency was investigated.
