The purpose of the work is to develop scientifically sound recommendations for the rational use of oxidized coal for the production of blast furnace coke, based on the expansion of scientific ideas about the processes of oxidation of coking coal of different degree of metamorphism and studying its properties during storage and preparation for coking. Research methods - standardized methods for determining the properties of coal: sieve, technical, petrographic, and elemental, burning and burning ability, combustion heat, grindability, maximum moisture content, actual density, the yield of chemical coking products. The novelty of the results of the study is as follows: for the first time it has been established that the process of oxidation of coal, regardless of the degree of its metamorphism, particle size distribution and oxidation temperature, undergoes 3 main stages: initial, intensive oxidation and saturation. It is established that the process of natural oxidation of coal during its storage in open-stack piles in summer and winter is satisfactorily described by the generalized exponential equation of the kinetics of Avrami-Yerofeev heterogeneous reactions. For the first time, it has been established that coal grade "W" at the initial stage of oxidation improves its coking. The hypothesis is formulated and experimentally confirmed that the improvement of fatty coal coking with its natural oxidation is due to an increase in the viscosity of the oxidized coal produced by plastic mass, as well as an increase in the amount of degradation products, which leads to an increase in intraplastic pressure. It has been experimentally proved that coke obtained from coal blend with the participation of oxidized coal is characterized by a high content of isotropic carbon and less anisotropic, which explains the increase in its reaction.
