The structural, optical and electrophysical characteristics of the obtained materials are determined, the routes and dynamics of the consumption of photogenerated charges in the photophysical and primary photochemical processes are investigated. The regularities and mechanisms of photocatalytic processes in systems based on semiconductors and dye sensitizers have been established. The peculiarities of the relations of photocatalytic activity with the thermodynamic and electrochemical parameters of redox transformations have been investigated, depending on the composition and nature of the components. The possibility of using the created redox systems for different chemical transformations is predicted. The theoretical bases of construction of new efficient photoelectrochemical systems based on semiconductors, sensitized by polymethine dyes of different types, photosensitive composite materials for photovoltaics, disposal of toxic waste of enterprises, etc. are substantiated.
