Object of study: water-soluble biocompatible non-modified C60 fullerenes. The purpose of the work is to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties of biocompatible water-soluble unmodified C60 fullerenes on models of cholangitis and liver fibrosis, antitumor properties on models of hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma of rats, HepG2 liver carcinoma cells. Research methods: histological, biochemical, cultural, immunocytochemical, hematological, statistical analysis. In acute and chronic C60 cholangitis, fullerenes have been shown to contribute to the suppression of its morphological and biochemical manifestations and restore the functional state of the liver. C60 fullerenes are capable of inhibiting development fibrotic changes in the liver and help maintain its normal functional activity over a long period of time since the initiation of damage to this organ. When exposed to cancer in situ, the protective effects of C60 fullerenes on the liver are found in reducing its fibrotic degeneration, reducing the number and size of tumor nodes, inhibiting metastasis, and increasing animal survival. The positive effects of C60 fullerenes are more pronounced compared to the effects of the comparison drug - classical cytostatic 5-fluorouracil. C60 fullerenes inhibit cell proliferation of HepG2 (liver carcinoma) cells, stimulate vimentin expression and p53 protein. The data obtained indicate the anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic and antitumor activity of C60 fullerenes, as well as their ability to influence the proliferation of liver cells, including through involvement of the p53 pathway.
