The subject of analysis is the grammatical and semantic aspects of the functioning of Ukrainian vocabulary and phraseology. The purpose is to characterize the grammatical and semantic features of the Ukrainian language functioning in different functional styles at different stages of the development of the Ukrainian literary language. In the course of the study the following general scientific methods were used: observation, analysis, synthesis, comparison; linguistic methods: descriptive method; method of integrative analysis; method of contextual linguistic and stylistic analysis (to elucidate stylistic functions of lexical and phraseological units, revealing their specificity in vertical and horizontal contexts of individual authoring; component analysis method; distributive method; methods of cognitive linguistics. The theoretical significance of the obtained results is that the materials of researches, generalizations and conclusions about the specificity of grammatical and semantic aspects of the functioning of the Ukrainian language vocabulary and phraseology significantly deepen the theory of linguostylistics, linguocultural studies, linguocopragnostics, linguocoprologic. The originality of the research works, which explore the specifics of grammatical and semantic aspects of the functioning the Ukrainian language vocabulary and phraseology is that for the first time in Ukrainian linguistics the artistic idiolectics of a number of Ukrainian writers have been comprehensively investigated and functional features of the vocabulary and phraseology of the Ukrainian language were clarified.
