The aim of the work is to establish new knowledge about heterogeneous chemical processes occurring in the decomposition of multicomponent oxide materials and their use to optimize the processing of mineral raw materials. Research methods-kinetic studies, thermodynamic calculations, x-ray phase analysis, mathematical modeling, spectroscopy. Recommendations for optimal conditions and improvement of the leaching process of modified ilmenite due to the study of the kinetics of the sulfatization process were developed and the corresponding experimental verification was carried out. It is established that the phase composition of the ore changes during mechanical activation of the feedstock. It was found that carrying out the leaching process using H2SO4 concentration above 85% leads to a decrease in the degree of recovery of titanium in the solution. It is shown that the efficiency of titanium extraction in the leaching process at temperatures above 190°C decreases, which is explained by the formation of an acid-insoluble polymer form TiOSO4. It was found that the chemical activation of raw materials in the process of sulfatization due to the introduction Of NAF into the reaction mixture, increases the degree of titanium recovery in the solution. The mechanism of acid leaching of modified ilmenite is established, which allows leaching to be considered as a two-stage process: at the first stage the process proceeds in a kinetic, at the second-in an external diffusion mode.
