The element-wise influence of the components of the slag melt on the absorption of alkaline compounds by the slag taking into account their interatomic interaction was revealed, which allows the selection of the optimal slag composition of high alkali-absorbing ability. An indicator has been developed to assess the actual concentrations of alkaline oxides (K2O and Na2O) in the slag melt - “alkaline capacity”, which allows you to perform an operative predictive assessment of the content of potassium and sodium oxides in the slag melt in the actual operating conditions of blast furnaces. A method for the rapid assessment of the optimal alkaline capacity of blast furnace slag based on the relationship between the alkaline capacity of blast furnace slag and alkaline load is proposed. Their ratio is recommended as a criterion that allows you to control the accumulation of alkaline compounds in the space of the blast furnace and reasonably make the choice of control actions for timely adjustment of the composition and mass ratio of the components of the mixture in order to obtain cast iron and slag of the optimal composition in specific charge and technological conditions.
