This approach makes it possible to study the stress-strain state of a complex thin-walled structure as a whole, as well as to specify the stresses in the vicinity of a sharp change in the geometric configuration of the structure, in places of reinforcing elements and concentrators. An appropriate finite element software was developed for computer simulation of the deformation processes of thin-walled structures under intense force loading, using which the strength of the rocket engine fuel tanks have been explored, the destructive value of the force loading for them and the places of probable their destruction were determined. Comparative analysis of results both the computer simulation and the corresponding full-scale experiments showed a good agreement between the calculated values of the destructive loads and the fracture points of the tanks with those obtained experimentally. The scientifically substantiated bases of establishment of limiting possibilities of the fuel tanks operation of rocket engine by computer simulation are developed. If the results of computational and full-scale experiments coincide for loads less than destructive, there is no need to bring the load to destructive in the physical prototype of the structure.
