Objective - to establish the manifestations of radiation-induced genome instability in the formation of distant cellular effects in Сhornobyl clean-up workers in the remote period after irradiation. Methods - immunological, molecular-genetic, cultural, statistical, analytical. Results. As a result of the study of the formed extended analytical sample, an increase in expression of γ-H2AX in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of Chornobyl clean-up workers was demonstrated, that reflects an insufficiency of repair mechanisms and the presence of secondary genomic instability. Direct correlations between the increase of γ-H2AX expression in peripheral blood lymphocytes and the age of the cleanup workers, presence of chronic somatic pathology of the respiratory and nervous systems, and the effect of radiation are shown. The correlation between the expression level of γ-H2AX histone and the telomere length depending on the radiation dose and age are revealed. At the late period after radiation exposure, under conditions of increased spontaneous expression level of CyclinD1, an increased cell entry to apoptosis was shown, that, in combination with a dose-dependent reduction of phytohemagglutin-induced expression of CyclinD1, accumulation of lymphocytes in S - phase with a subsequent increase in cell numbers in G2+M phase of the cell cycle and increased expression of the phosphorylated form of H2AX iprovides evidence on a secondary genomic instability of the late period after radiation exposure using the error-prone repair pathway.
