The object of the study is the basis for the occurrence of a legal relationship. The purpose of the work is to develop a theoretical model of contractual regulation of private law relations, a mechanism of legal regulation of contractual relations and their further practical implementation by creating the necessary bills, disseminating scientific ideas that have been introduced, among scholars, practitioners, etc. Research methods - general scientific and special methods of scientific knowledge, in particular dialectical, comparative-legal and formal-legal methods, as well as methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction and generalization. As a result of the research, a theoretical generalization and a new solution to the scientific problem, consisting in a comprehensive study of legal facts as a basis for the occurrence of obligations, have been made, the legal positions on the improvement of the mechanism of legal regulation of obligations and the proposed new approaches have been proposed. The sources of legal regulation of obligations are characterized, the contract is investigated as the basis of contractual obligations, the bases of contractual obligations, their legal regime are clarified. The main results of the research work are reflected in the scientific publications that were published. In the course of developing the topic, 1 draft law was prepared and sent to the relevant Verkhovna Rada Committee. Forecast assumptions about the development of the object of study - it is predicted to introduce a single approach of the legislator to develop a mechanism for the legal regulation of contractual relations, as well as harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU law in view of Ukraine's accession to the WTO through the direction of the activities of government bodies that carry out rulemaking.
