Kholodny Institute of Botany, NAS of Ukraine popup.description2 The goal of the work was to analyze the transformation of the signal and metabolic systems of plants and their anatomical, morphological and ultrastructural characteristics during the formation of stress resistance induced by heavy metals. The objectives of the work were 1. Research of the effect of exogenous ABA on the stress resistance of winter wheat in conditions of soil contamination by HM (using an example of zinc); 2. Studying at the structural and molecular levels the effects of heavy metals on the ecotypes of A. thaliana from habitats with different levels of radiation pollution; 3) Determination of the HM effect on the enzymatic systems of the stromal fraction of higher plant chloroplasts; 4) Examination of adaptogens influence on the ability of the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii to mitigate the physiological stress induced by HM. Changes in the balance of phytohormones can induce protective mechanisms and subsequent adaptation of plants to the effects of excessive HM concentrations, and the priming of wheat seeds by exogenous ABA can be used to increase stress resistance. Among the ecotypes of A.thaliana, taken within 10 km of the Chernobyl exclusion zone, a line of plants with acquired resistance to HM was found. In the stable ecotype A.thaliana after cadmium treatment, an increased amount of protein anexin D was recorded, which allows us to consider this trait as a marker of plant resistance to the toxic effect of HM. The functional state of the photosynthetic apparatus of A. thaliana ecotypes was evaluated by induction of chlorophyll fluorescence. The values of Fv/Fm, F′v/ F′m, PSII and qP were decreased in all ecotypes under exposure to Cd2+. The presence of 4x isoforms of CAs was found among soluble leaf proteins and the difference in their reaction to the presence of different metals was shown. The data obtained extend the understanding of the mechanisms of plant tolerance to the heavy metals and can be used in genetics and crop breeding Product Description popup.authors Brykov Vasyl O.
