Research methods - physical experiment with registration of transient processes, X-ray analysis, optical and electron microscopy, mechanical tests, tribological tests. An analytical review of the methods of electro-explosive production of nanosized materials and coatings was conducted, which showed that such methods are promising, but require the development of the theory and practice of electrical explosion of conductors. The experimental data confirm the possibility of synthesizing and applying Ti and W carbide phases by the chemical interaction between explosion products of metallic conductors and pyrolysis products during the explosion of electric conductor in organic gas. The formation of carbides of refractory metals occurs even under conditions when the energy, introduced to the conductor at the resistive heating stage is insufficient to fully transform it into a gaseous state, and the morphological features of the products of the conductor electric explosion indicate that the carbide formation process takes place in the liquid phase. It is found that increasing the energy deposition in the conductor before the explosion contributes to the increase of the peak voltage and arc current. The formed coatings are mainly composed of carbides and residual metals. TiC monocarbide is the only carbide formed in the system during the electric explosion of titanium conductors, and the explosion of tungsten conductors promotes the formation of carbide phases of the beta-WC and W2C type Product Description popup.authors Adamchuk Yuriy O.
