The study aims to explore the feasibility of employing the observation station Kryzhanovka of the Research Institute Astronomical Observatory of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University to observe low Earth orbit satellites, as well as testing observational instruments and evaluating the results of optical-surveillance astrometric and photometric data processing. The research methods include astrometric and photometric measurements of artificial space objects in conjunction with positional data taken with specific WAT-902H2 ULTIMATE CCTV cameras. We give some historical background on the establishment and operation of the observation station Kryzhanovka of the Research Institute Astronomical Observatory of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University. Also, we present some research performed using observation facilities of the station. We have analysed the observing conditions at the Kryzhanovka station based on the statistics for 15 years thus proving that both the number of observation nights per month and the average annual number of nights available for observations have increased with the latter making up to 200 nights per year. The instrumentation capabilities are shown by the example of test observations of satellites performed using specially designed system composed of four fast photo lenses and the Schmidt telescope at the observation station Kryzhanovka (A85 Odesa Astronomical Observatory, Kryzhanovka). The feasibility of astrometric and photometric surveillance of satellites has been explored using Watec WAT-902H2 cameras and different photo lenses. We conclude that the observation station Kryzhanovka can be employed to observe low Earth orbit satellites.
