This is due to the absence of “hot” cracks and the decay and coagulation of the reinforcing intermetallic phase of the original alloy. Such weld joints are higher properties then traditionally used in the aerospace area joints from the low-strength Al–Mg alloy made by pulsed arc-fusion welding. Under fusion welding using the pulsed-arc method and the Zv-1201 melting electrode the optimum seam metal strength is achieved when welding the D16 alloy in a post-quenching and natural aging state with following artificial aging and subsequent quenching and aging of welding joint. The peculiarities of changing of acoustic emission parameters, in particular, the signals intensity, the signals amplitude average values, the signals number and their frequency range have been revealed at different stages of fatigue fracture near the stress concentrator in D16hAT aluminum alloy specimens.
