In the first step, the current state of energetics and Ukrainian population energy demands was researched, and also estimated the scales of the DHS natural gas substitution due to power generation resources (mainly due to the night time valley of the daily load curve) and reserves of RES generation as an alternative to the development of thermal generation based on fossil carbon-based fuels. Ukraine's energy balances were examined using the IEA method. Their comparative analysis with the energy balances of 14 EU Member States was carried out. Impact of the fighting in the Donbass, including the deterioration of a number of indicators Ukraine energy security (emergence of energy coal dependency), were considered. The objective functions of optimization of DHS electric heating technologies at macroeconomic economy levels are investigated. Secondly, a feasibility study of the problem of power plants with non-guaranteed capacity, infrastructure requirements and features caused by the spread of electric heating in the DHS was carried out. Thirdly, technical and technical normative bases of technologies of direct and storage electric heating in DHS are compiled. Fourthly there were developed the thermodynamic method (exergy approach) of analyzing the efficiency of thermal power plants in the framework of the development of electric heating based on low carbon energy. And fifth, the polyvalent heating technology of the main residential properties of Ukraine in the context of the fourth generation district heating (4G-DH) requirements is proposed.
